Subject: CfP ‘Torts law reform in Asia and beyond’ (May 2022)

Dear All,

I’d like to draw your attention to a forthcoming conference on ‘Torts law reform in Asia and beyond’, held online on Friday, 13 May 2022.

ODG members with an interest in the conference theme are cordially invited to submit a paper proposal and/or in due course to register their attendance.

The conference is organised by the Obligations Lab Asia, a research cluster of the Faculty of Law at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

The conference seeks to provide a forum for exploring how jurisdictions in Asia and beyond, both through case law and statutory reform, respond to the need to keep civil liability rules up-to-date while the world is going through a period of rapid changes and serious upheaval.

Examples of topics that could be explored:

– Torts law and Covid-19
– Statutory torts law reform
– Civil wrongs in new codifications
– Reform of specific torts law doctrines
– Torts law and artificial intelligence
– Comparative torts law
– Empirical research into torts law
– Torts law reform in the classroom

The conference is directed at emerging as well as established scholars and practitioners of private law in Asia and beyond. To express your interest in presenting at the conference, please send a draft title, an abstract (between 150-300 words) and a short bio with your affiliation (around 150 words) to the Obligations Lab Asia at cctl.law@cuhk.edu.hk by Friday, 14 January 2022.

Please visit the conference website for more details.

I'm very happy to answer questions about the conference.

Kind regards

Normann
